Belter of a George 111 Bull Head Shilling. Photo from the field added

Post by Giz »

I have decided to separate this afternoons finds into 2 posts. This post I have placed into Stories Forum as I know that this is a George 111 shilling. Its the condition, my best example to date. I would like to ask our members as to which category this coin falls into ie fine, extra fine etc.
What a banging signal which registered 90 - 92 on the Deus. I had been out on this cultivated stubble field for around 2 hrs with very little in the way of finds, when up from around 5cm came this beauty. Other finds will need the knowledge of our forum members for ID's so I will post A.S.A.P. I do have photos taken in the field unfortunately I cannot up load them to the laptop. B|

Hi Graham. A lovely coin but only about VF (and with scratches). For EF you would need to see more detail on the laurel leaves and the lions. The standards for grading later milled coins really are incredibly high compared with the earlier stuff. ::g

Ive got into the habit of writing my post on the PC, saving it as a draft then logging in on my phone, opening up the draft and adding the pictures then, straight from the phone.
Best thing that has happened to the forum lately imo, being able to add photos of any size :D ::g ::g

I need a new phone Phil, the cable connection to the mobile doesn't connect. I have tried several leads. My wife suggests I send the photos to my e-mail on my PC, I'll let her sort that out. :D

I mean log on to the forum on the phone, you can then see what you have written and saved as a draft and add the photos and post it from your phone ::g

Lovely find Giz well done,
ain't found a nice bullhead for years, the best ones came out a pasture, field next to an old water mill near Banbury, in different shades, the nearer you got to the river the darker they came out.
Good luck for more soon Giz.

And you never have trouble ID’ing William & Mary Coins. If their conks had been any bigger they’d have to have made the coins bigger :D
