H.A.M.M.Y Code Feedback - Changes Made

Post by mrix » Sat Mar 09, 2019 12:03 pm

Hello all, many of you kindly gave your feedback regarding our H.A.M.M.Y Code in a recent topic I created which was greatly appreciated ::g B-)

After a fair amount of discussion myself and the Mods have been clawing anything we can from the feedback along with our own idea`s to make the system run as fairly and efficiently as possible ::g

More Prominent
One of the most common points raised was to make the H.A.M.M.Y Code more prominent, some members had no idea where it was or even what it was.

I am sure many of you have already noticed but for those that have not this has been remedied by directly heading the ID section and posts within it with the H.A.M.M.Y Code details.

Some members thought of the H.A.M.M.Y Code as simply a guide and nothing that had to be adhered to, many members would take the guide on-board and other would not.
So a couple of rule amendments have been put in place below....

Rule Amendments

1) We Now have two important changes to the H and M of the guide which are now mandatory as below....

a) H - Have at least two good sized clear photos

b) M - Measure items by doing the pics next to a metric or inch scale or ruler.

*PLEASE NOTE: Use of a modern coin or written dimensions no longer qualify as a "scale". We need a properly-defined measure - metric or good old-fashioned inches will do.

This scale below is popular among members...

In Gif Image Format - images/metric-scale/gridb.zip
Remember to click the option off for full page printing.

2) Everyone now is expected to add a form of scale and not simply bypass the H.A.M.M.Y Code system by adding a measurement within text, this is an attempt to make the system far more fair for everyone, its obviously not fair to ask some members to add a form of scale when other members can simply add a little text within his description.
However We will not remove members requests over the next 3 months who forget and are presently not aware of this change, We will simply send off a pm explaining the New rule change and simply ask if they can please add a form of scale in any future ID requests ::g , Their present topic will still be allowed to remain on the open forum.

3) Something else drawn from the feedback was that some members thought we were being a little too harsh on New members, jumping on posts as soon as they appeared on the forums, this is completely true but what you never realised is that this was put in place simply to stop members jumping on the topic themselves and explaining about the hammy code, we simply just wanted members to know we already had the situation in hand and we were already helping the New user ::g
We now can clearly see how this would of come across to members so we will no longer being replying to ID requests in this way ::g So Please be aware we will of already noticed these requests and they already in hand and helping them behind the scenes ::g

Finally If you have any problems or concerns regarding these changes please reply to this thread or send a pm to any of the Mods here ::g

Thanks all
mrix

Come on guys and girls. mrix and the other mods have put a lot of work into this, please give them some feedback. Only 3.17% of those who have viewed this have posted! Don't let apathy rule and don't complain about it in 3 months time if you are not happy about it.

I think the mods have worked hard and done well. ::g

Anyone requesting “I d please” should value the free time and experience given here freely.

The least anyone can do in requesting, is to follow the rules and put effort in themselves.

Experts only ask the HAMMY code as that’s the vital info they need to start.

And let’s face it 20 mins to print scale and photograph in exchange for years of knowledge is an absolute bargain in my eyes.

Have you considered getting a colour scale (With the shop or forum branding/logo's) printed up, laminated, and sell them in the shop?

If they could be sold for a couple of quid and the associated postage was kept cheap, say around £1, I bet folks would buy them...

Hi Stan, I agree printing off an image can be difficult especially when you need it to be accurate in size, I think you maybe better off finding a rule for your ID requests ::g

I have managed to print of the image in the correct size but cannot remember the procedure, I`ll take a look and update this thread ::g

Thanks

Pressed the Print button and all printed fine ::g
If your using a different device please let us know and I am sure someone can help ::g

In Windows 10 " if your using that" ? there is a program called "Photos" this is the program app I was talking about ::g

Basically just right clicked the image and from the dropdown sub menu picked " Photos "

I did try Windows paint program which I never has any success with.
