which coil for Etrac on beach

Post by steunited » Fri Jul 20, 2018 2:55 pm

Taking the family on a weeks holiday over on the east coast soon and going to take the Etrac with me but don't want to take the rather large SEF 15x12 coil in an already full car.
I was looking at buying either the Detech 6" DD or Detech SEF 6x8 coil and wondered which would be the best.
thanks

I am just wondering what`s wrong with the standard coil ? I had many a great trip to the beach with the standard coil setup which worked brilliantly ::g B-)

I would of thought the bigger the better, not an expert on beach detecting but needs must in this drought, I have been getting on fine with a 17" coil on the CTX. I used to have a 12" SEF coil on my Explorer and that was good too.

I think the eTrac would be very similar to these so would go with your 15" SEF or the stock coil. Those small ones are more for very small highly infested spots, I haven't used my 6" coil in years

If it is a small coil that you want to purchase, the 6x8 SEF is the way to go, super little coil
that works very well on my E Trac ::g

Thanks for the replies and the reason I don't use the stock coil is because I sold it and bought the SEF.
After thinking about it i probably will take it with me as i don't see the point in spending £90 when i don't really need to

Agreed, all good. The larger coils are better for coverage but may unbalance the machine. ::g

Well I only managed to get down to the beach once due to being busy doing other things but found a nice little Michael Kors pendant which my wife and daughter both want to wear.
