garrett p/p

Post by veryoldshep »

Hi folks , this is a basic Q, does the Garrett p/p sound/vibrate all the time when down a hole or does field soil conditions make a differance, mine seems to go off at the slightest pressure, its pure guess work .The main Q. is , IS it bugg**d. or just me..Keep swingin ..

You can "de sensitise" them by turning them on close to a coin/metal item.
If you are pushing the "nose" against the side of the hole it will false as you are creating a change on the electro magnetic environment surrounding the coil.

Practice pin pointing with your machine and only use the pinpointer as a back up. ;)

"Slightest pressure" ? As jcmaloney correctly says, they false if you put any pressure on them.

I have had my Garrett now for almost 8 years. Still works great. It is a very sensitive piece of kit and overly expensive IMHO.

Not saying you do it, but I have seen lots of people using them to dig into the dirt to get closer to the target. They then get clogged up with mud and then wonder why they don't work anymore.

Having said that, with all 'electric' things there are always faults occur.

Maybe worth reading the instructions again. Whilst it's going off, each press of the button will desensitise it to the target.

Yes try desensitising... but if still in warranty ... your supplier should be happy to give it the once over for you.
