There is no difference between to an old one or new, also the 150 has been superseded by the 200i

Pretty sure it's the same machine it always was. An old 150 will be no better than a new one IMHO. For £80 you have a cheap option to see if you like the hobby.

I have the older 150 and brother in law has the newer.
I swear mine picks up more signals! Not sure if the tones are ever so slightly different, can't tell for sure as I have blu tac over the speaker holes to muffle the ridiculous noise when detecting on my own. Cracking little machine, love mine to bits, I guess you just get used to what you know. Bargain @£80

Also bear in mind that you can add a Nel or similar larger coil (Tornado etc) that will make the 150 into a more capable machine for a beginner! (I did exactly that and also used the tornado on my Euroace to great effect) Good luck.
