Coil lead

I have been reading that a loose lead can cause false readings. How much slack should you leave? Is it best to hold the lead in place with tape or such like

You want enough slack to allow the coil to move freely either way without pulling on the cable. Wrap most of the cable down the shaft but make sure that at the bottom there is enough cable movement to move with the turning of the coil.

Falsing usually occurs when the cable is loose and a lot of it drops down near the coil and can move on the swing. Watch the Garrett Ace tutorials on You Tube, they cover this in the assembly part.
