Roman and hammered coins

Post by damo666 »

I was wondering if someone could tell me what tone ID you get on screen with the 250.
I use a nel tornado coil not yet found hammered or roman coins.

Closest I have is silver Charles 2nd which is fantastic but need some advice from someone who has a lot of searching experience.

A small video clip or photos would be very much appreciated. 🙂

Hi. I can't help you directly but it should be easy and cheap enough to get hold one of each on a well known auction site. :D Unfortunately it probably won't help you much as both Roman coins and hammies vary considerably. Your best bit is to dig almost everything until you find what you are after, or are absolutely sure the signal means junk. ::g

I occasionally use a 250 with nel tornado coil and it has found me a few hammered coins . Great little machine and I run mine in relic mode . I have found that the hammered coins tend to bounce around the ring pull icon with a decent enough two way ding . Basically anything that hovers around the ring pull I dig , signals are not always hammered coins but always worth digging . ::g

Hello Damo,
Have had a 400i for over 3 years.
Assuming Garrett use the same numbers on all their range, here`s what the 400i rings up.
Sent previously to a new 400i user.
60-94 has found; Silver, Copper, Bronze, Lead etc but no Gold, although that comes in at 85.
Just been to the garden and done readings for the Silver coins that I have found.
101BC Republican Denarius, 86 on screen,
1569 Elizabeth 1st Three Pence, 83,
Elizabeth 1st Half Groat ?, 66,
1696 French, 4 Sols, 2 Deniers, 80% Silver, 77,
1943 Sixpence, 50% Silver, 83 on screen.
Never found anything interesting above 94.
Roman coppers will come in between 70/85.
Basically dig everything between 60 and 95.
Could be that no coins were dropped on your particular land.
Hope this helps,
Dave.
