EuroAce

Post by Jel » Sat Apr 28, 2018 8:42 pm

Although my detector made the odd bleep for nothing the other day (down the coast), i tried to use it today (woodland) and after an hour had to give up.
Upon starting it up it bleeped in all modes, sometimes scatter bleeping so much i had to take my earphones off. Every now and then i would hit a small twig and it would bleep, or bleep several times over a spot and then nothing. Although 2 years old, i've used this literally 4 times and only once for more than 4 hours.
It hasn't got wet (i bought a new control cover for it last week) or left to get damp. The batteries are new and showing plenty of charge on the display.

All very confusing and am supposed to be using it tomorrow. Help!!!

I use a Euroace and have this in woodland due to mineralisation, usually a couple of notches down on sensitivity solves it. Can also be due to loose coil cable plug. Hope that helps...

You might want to remove the coil cover and check there isn’t any sand etc that has got inbetween the cover and the coil as you were down on the beach the other day.

And just checking that you didn’t switch it on near the car or power lines? It’s easy to do X(

As Oxgirl says - check no muck under the coil cover.

2. All coils will bleep if you accidentally hit something - twig, root, stubble, etc. - just ignore those bleeps.

3. Make sure your cable is wound fairly tightly around the stem. If it's flopping around close to the coil it will give you signals.

4. See also Junior & RossDGs comments

Thanks everyone, all advice taken on board. Went to my cousin's and was gutted to see he hadn't been able to cut the grass. Halfway up my shins and impossible to sweep properly so going back in June after it's been cut.
