Some in depth Information on how a Metal detector works.

Post by Bors » Thu Jun 13, 2019 10:58 am

Find all about how a Metal detector works.

https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/11043 ... THEORY.pdf

OK, it can get a bit heavy going but it's very informative if you want the nitty gritty . :D
It can seem a bit daunting reading it but I find the MORE you persevere reading it the more interesting it becomes and eventually when you put things into perspective it starts to make some sense. But just take it a bit at a time ,and it will be rewarding for your knowledge bank.

Its not that straight forward to me, and even some of it goes over my head, but if you do go back to it periodically,I find it does become a little clearer than the last read and so on. People with electrical knowledge should find it easier to get into, but like I said there are certain paragraphs which do become more recognizable once you`ve "digested" it a bit. :))
It wouldn`t do any harm though to print it off for future reference. Knowledge is King! ::g :))

I liked the pictures but am still trying to figure out what a refracted dissonant sine modulation reverb means. I think it's physics .

;)

(It's actually quite a good article, maybe one day we will have signal displays like music player applications on computers, with special themes to choose from like Gladiator, Tudor or Techno. Has to be done, there's a whole crowd who are lost nowadays without a screen to watch)

=)) I don`t think the average detectorist has to understand that ,as a lot of it is going into quite some depth on the detector workings.
Like I said there are some bits in there worth a scan over and even noting but if we all could read it and straight off know what it was telling us ,we could chuck selling the Big Issue job in tomorrow. :)) Big Issue anyone ???

Just to put a dampener on things: the use of the phrase nitty gritty is no longer socially acceptable. It refers to the detritus at the bottom of slaving ships and also has sexual connotations. It was banned by the Home Office some time ago for use by police forces. B|
