Thanks for all the emails.

Salisbury seems rather popular. :))

I will reply to each email each day after work & add you to a "mailing list".

On Friday 13th September PM you will receive an "Information Pack".

That will clarify the exact location and provide some local history.

The location will be given using traditional postcode & roadside signs and

What3words

What3words is an incredible website/phone app for locating 1 metre squares across the country so is great for recording finds as well! ::g

Thank you. ::g

Had some "interesting" queries...................

Sometimes the excitement before a dig is as much fun as the event itself. :))

Suffice to say that, despite the local speculation, the land is not legitimately detected and the landowner has never granted permission either. ::g

Couple of updates.....

We can take card payments contactless or Chip & PIN.

We will also be using https://what3words.com/

This is a great app for your phone that grids the country into 1 metre squares, much more accurate than a postcode and great for recording finds!!

What3words even features on the BBC News this morning. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-49319760

There will be a WC.
Dogs are permitted but must be kept under control and poop scooped.
My personal limit is 1 person per acre and we are nearly full. ::g

Still receiving inquiries from folk.

Landowner will be sending a picture of the cultivated land once it has been done which will be a week before our visit.

I`ll add that when it arrives.

The farm does NOT operate a direct drill/no till method of farming. ::g

Cultivation has happened! Will have a week or so to settle.
Parking is most likely to be on field headlands (the uncultivated firm stuff!).

As the land is under Middle Tier CS the recording of finds over 300 years old is mandatory.

Recording & the CoC for responsible detecting will also be covered in the pre-dig briefing.

There will not be an employed FLO at the event, but there will be a volunteer, PAS trained, self recorder who will be doing the documenting, photography, measuring, weighing etc.

Of course, it is the finders duty to record such items either after the event with their local FLO, or present them to be recorded on the day.

Ideally we would like to see all finds "on the day" as we provide a written report of finds to our landowners.

By way of a brief update...... pictures will follow in the near future....

62 attendee`s across 85 acres of what was "dry and dusty" cultivated.

16 Durotriges bronze units, very well scattered across a 15+ Acre "hotspot"
1 Iron Age bucket mount (general consensus, might be something else!)
18 Roman bronzes, 1 Denari.
1 Roman votive axe.
3 Roman brooch fragments
1 Aethlred penny, pierced & gilded, off to the Treasure process.
1 chunky silver ring, possibly a posy with an inscription, no hallmarks, potential Treasure.
32 assorted Medieval hammered.
1 Vessica seal.
1 very interesting spur rowel, never seen one like it before.
1 1700`s sword hanger.
1 superb early medieval harness pendant.

And then lots and lots of Trade tokens, jettons, bag seals, belt mounts of many shapes & sizes. Victorian/Georgian pennys & half pennies.

And 2 x 42ltr flexi buckets full of "general metallic detritus"!

Managed to photograph, weigh and measure everything over 300 years old so I`ve now got about 3 weeks worth of image manipulation and recording to do. (:|

No issues with hole filling, happy farmer and happy attendee`s.

Suffice to say it was a cracking day out, weather was "warm" and a few folk will wake up this morning looking like Swan Vesta matches!

Job done. - ::g
