I'm starting a new metal detecting club in Chorley, Lancs.

Post by Copperballs1 » Sun Mar 12, 2017 8:06 pm

Hello folks,

I'm going to be starting my own metal detecting club and will be limiting the initial membership to 30 members. I have been in numerous clubs but my last club was plagued by in house politics and I am anxious to create a club free from politics with good land to search and a carefree environment where people can just attend venues and dig/socialise.

Our land will be mainly in the Lancashire area and each dig will cost £5. There will also be 2 weekenders away (one in summer and one in winter) and all members must have NCMD insurance. I also understand that many people don't get weekends off so there is no stipulation on how many digs you must attend etc as we will try and get an equal balance of weekend/weekday digs.

If you are interested in joining then please send me an email to [email protected] with your name, contact tel. number and address. The club will be called the Red Rose Searchers and I am looking at getting the club off the ground so to speak mid April with a dig to be announced around this time.

Thank you I look forward to hearing from future club members.

Regards,

John aka Copperballs1

Hi John,

I only just saw your post as I haven`t been on the forum for a while, me and my wife Linda would be very interested in joining your new detecting club if you still have places available.
We have been members of various clubs over the years, but as you say, the thing that ruins them every time is always politics and in-fighting, so invariably they always end up collapsing !
I have been detecting over 20 years and Linda about 4 years.
We live in Preston, so just a 20 minute drive for us to Chorley.

Regards
Lewis

Best of luck John, we only started ours in January and it's going very well. As previously suggested, if others want to help you, let them. It can be a thankless task sometimes so don't shoulder all the responsibility yourself. Happy Hunting to you all.

Best of luck with the new club OooO
I co-founded my own club in Norwich 15 months ago http://www.norfolkheritagerecovery.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and things have gone very well, made so much easier by having wonderful members.
Respect for each other, for the land and landowners and a willingness to do more than your own share of the work are good ingredients for a club success. Remember its an enjoyable hobby and that members want to keep it that way, keep us updated on how everything goes and I also hope that in forming the new club that old friendships are not lost and other clubs remain close as detecting is a very small world, Liam :;@

I hope that the new club is up and running and doing well. My wife and I are interested in joining if you have any places available so you have a PM.

Best of luck
Pete
