Ayup Mark I'm from High Lane Boslem. Take a look at Kingdom of Mercia Metal Detecting Club it has quite a few members from Stoke area and they hold digs not too far away.

Done a few beaches round there.

I would never try and put you off but there is a minority of bad people.

If you are on your own. Don't walk for long periods in a straight line so someone could sneak up behind you and keep an eye towards the shore. Camera gear was stolen from someone at Talacre.

Once I have two blokes walking up behind me and as I turned round they did a 180 and walked away. Normally you just get dog walkers interested in what you find.

Done the beaches at night also. Car parks are used for sex and drugs but the police do patrol fairly regularly

Had success at kinmel bay and Conwy.
Silver pre decimal at Talacre.
Fresh droppage at Old Colwyn there is someone that does this beach but is the busiest.

Rhyl and Prestatyn I never done. Doubt my detector will work at Rhyl. Some beaches have had some black rocks dumped to stop erosion. Unfortunately they are breaking up and each bit gives a cracking signal.

Did cycle past a few weeks ago and the sand was up to the second step I not local but would guess a metre or more of sand.

Rhos on Sea quite good. Last time I did it was a few years ago looked like it had not been done for a while with the amount out of modern coins.

Can do Wednesday or Thursday if you fancy Conway. Low tide is 16.30/17.00 so falls well for an afternoon hunt.
