I'm a fresh faced newbie from Carlisle armed with heaps of motivation, a sturdy pair of boots, door-knocking nerve and the research skills of a Phd qualified bloodhound...but no metal detector (yet ).
I've already learnt a wealth of info from this forum over the past hour, and it seems like a nice place to be. I'm looking forward to getting to know the hobby, and the hobbyists too. That means you!
So don't be shy, say hi, and I'll try my best not to pester you too much for advice .
Any other Cumbrians around?

If it's help and information you're after you've come to the right place. There's a wealth of information under the various sub forums in the blue panel to the left, there are topics on here covering just about every subject which you can access using the search button, or you can just ask and someone will always help.
Enjoy your time here.

As the figgis has said ask away. We’ve all been new at this at one point so we know how it feels to be overwhelmed with machine choices, research etc.

You will find a lot of scrap but every now and then you will dig up something really nice . A hammered coin or if you are lucky enough something yellow and shiny . I have been detecting for 20 years and still really look forward on getting out in the field. You never know what you might dig up . I was lucky enough last year to dig up a gold inscription posy ring dated between 1550 -1650 it is treasure trove. Good luck and enjoy your new hobby
