Garrett pinpointed suddenly sending my T2 into a tailspin !

Post by MrLysol » Mon May 07, 2018 10:00 am

Does anyone else get this ? Every now and then my pinpointer just sends my T2 wild. I've tried changing the freq' but to no avail. It's either headphones off whilst I track down the find, or not use the pinpointer at all ....... Just wondered if I was the only one. I know the T2 is a fickle beast when it comes to interference, but I love it ;)

Hi thanks for that, quite interesting as I'm sure I had that problem with my Detect ultimate coil looking back ? But the issue I have now is when the pinpointer is switched on, the signal interference is unbearable.

Hi MrLysol,
watching this thread with interest as i have exactly the same problem. with the headphones on the noise is unbearable when i switch on my pinpointer. i thought it was normal so if there is any way to stop it i'd be really interested.

The new Minelab pinpointers have what they call DIF (detector interference free) technology.

I've never used a T2, but the Pro Find 35 doesn't affect the Deus at all, and I'm assured that DIF works for all detectors.

It just occurred to me that I have had this problem before and it seemed to cease when I changed the battery in the pinpointer. I'll try it over the weekend and let you know Rob ;)

I had a Garrett carrot which more often than not did all sorts of weird stuff, more so when the battery got low but did not interfere with the Deus. After a year it became completely unusable and would not switch off - turns out it was faulty from the start. The replacement is superb though.

Some detectors allow the user to change frequency and the problem is solved.

Others have to place their detector away from the pin pointer when using it. :(

AS JBM indicates, just change the frequency. I have to use F5 to stop the pinpointer interfering but there is 7 to choose from

Changed the battery to no effect. Then swapped the frequency to F1 and it settled down. ;)

Hi I have the t2 with the detech ultimate coil and my garret pinpointer the orange one,I can use it on f2 and it's quiet.try your pinpointer on another t2 if possible as that would rule out the pinpointer or the t2,I had a simular problem and it was the t2 and had it reformatted and I've never looked back hope this helps cheers ken

Just been out on an iron infested pasture land. Had the problem again with the propointer chatter ... changed the frequency and worked a treat 🤣😎

"Reformatted" ? 'scuse my ignorance, but what do you mean ? Reformatted the T2 or the pinpointer ? And how ?
I also tried the YouTube tip of ground balancing the p/p, that didn't work either ......
Thanks in advance, Mick
