Wow. Wish we had that down here too. Lovely stuff
Totally blessed to have rocks like this nearby meandmyboy,
Problem is they are a ruddy distraction from metal detecting :D
It’s lookjng like this whole field area is a sheet of such rocks,
Would e marvellous to clear a section of top soil and see what’s going on underneath
I bet there’s some absolutely monumental specimens to be had,
Saleable stones would be nice-an equinox would be the result :-w
Cheers mun!
Really very nice indeed, maybe a stupid question but do you have to break them open or are they found like that ?

Hi alloverover,
The smoky quartz in this one came as a surprise after a wee tappie
I’m told-accompanied by a naughty word :D
The white one was apparently lying face up on the sun..
Some fields they are everywhere-but the quality varies as much as the array of endless forms.
To find show stoppers as with everything takes a tiny bit of knowledge and a big kiss off Lady Luck!
Cheers ::g
Also then getting a lump into something that looks good is fun-bit of a beggar when you trash one.

Just to brighten up this page ::g
This wee cracker was found in the gravel from my drive!
Banded red jasper agate-a type the cheviots excel in producing.
Best guess is from the old quarry at eckford near Kelso where the bulk of border gravel
Used to come from. ;)
