Post by Mykyl66 » Mon Jan 21, 2019 9:24 pm

I thought some might be interested in seeing what’s lying about on beaches in this part of the world. :)

The third one looks like some kind of freaky lizard eye, beautiful thing.

Oh my gosh, you found those on the beach?
I know a couple of good friends who i would love to give something like that as a gift
They are super cool and beats the semi hard clay pebbles that i find on my beach here in Somerset

I have hundreds in tubs found last year that I have not started to cut or polish. Being able to bend and pick them up is what helped me get back into metal detecting after a 20 year gap. :) It’s amazing what can be found. In the gallery link is a piece of fossilised root.

I use a tile saw with a diamond blade to cut my rocks. I also have diamond polishing disks of differing grits to polish the cut rocks.

Yep used to find similar agates on the East Yorkshire beaches years ago along with carnelians which came out of the glacial tills in the cliffs. Still have them in the shed somewhere.
