Partefact Challenge No.3

Post by thefiggis » Sun Apr 21, 2019 1:13 pm

Partefacts - we all find them. Sometimes identification is easy, other times not so and a decent find can be consigned to the scrap bucket simply because we have no idea what it is.

If we can be more aware of the small details of certain objects then we'll be better equipped to make an accurate ID when we find part of one, so to this end we thought we'd try something a little different.

Below are images of part of an object. Have a look and see if you think you know what it is. Having made your mind up, you can then click on the "spoilers" to reveal the answer. In this instance we've shown the partefact in full and the spoiler contains a modern example to give an idea of the item's purpose (there seem to be no intact contemporary examples that I could find).

This is made from cast copper alloy.

It's just a bit of fun, no trick questions and the thread will be left open for comment, so
if you want to have a go without knowing what others might think then don't scroll down beyond the first post.

They seem quite a common find, Tomo.

I was pleased to find this but even more pleased when I checked the hole, got another signal, and found it had been masking a Lizzie penny :D

See that set my imagination off on a tangent
I Imagined someone melting down his hoard of ill gotten gains to make...ummmm well thats where it kind of tails off, but there was possible violence and smashing of smelting business, hence the part of the trivet and a silver coin :D

x;

You want to go easy on them jellybeans, mah sun ::g

But your sugar-induced reverie has kicked off a gin-induced one of my own, involving masked serfs led by One-Eared Ralph looking furtively over their be-smocked shoulders as they divvy up the spoils of assorted kitchenalia purloined from Mrs Arbuthnotte who herself nicked it out of the manor. They're being watched with some suspicion by a passing wild pig. For some reason :-/
