I think we are now on the second updated profile from the initial software when the alter 71 came out. As of today, I have not installed the latest version, and to be honest for myself right now, I see no need. That is not to say that if I were passing the Rutus retailer on the south coast, I would not get it done. Why wouldn't I?
Surely it is better to have the little tweaks and upgrades that the manufacturer provides, would you not update your phone or computers.

The Rutus is a very capable detector, that still flys slightly under the radar. And I am sure whichever version you decide to get, you will be pleasantly surprised by how good it is ::g

Just out of curiosity, what area are you in, if you were local to Berkshire you would be able to have a go on my one ::g

If any Rutus Alter 71 users have not seen it the July issue of Treasure Hunting magazine has a review of the machine and V 2.0 software.

I do not have the machine so only very quickly glanced at the review but the one advantage of V 2.0 over earlier software that struck me was that you can now save 4 personal programs while still keeping the original factory settings.

Also if you ground balance over metal or poor ground conditions the machine will suggest that you should ground balance again to optimise performance - I like the sound of that.

All new machines now should come with V 2.0 installed.
