Multi frequency

Post by Andre » Wed Aug 15, 2018 12:05 am

Hi all, just about to buy a 71,I owned a fisher for the last three years, good machine but I’m ready to try a more complex one.Dont want to go with the hype of equinox or Deus,I think the Rutus alter very reasonably priced.
Anyone could roughly explain how the frequencies work and when to change them?
I’m mainly on pasture
Thanks

Have you considered downloading the instructional manual to get a feel for it.? It will also possibly answer other questions about it which you may be harbouring. There are other obvious advantages in doing so. Good Luck - Regards ss47

The 71 has seven pre-set programs, from Ultra-deep to Ultra-fast.

You can change the frequency (and pretty much everything else) very easily within the settings of each program.

The lowest frequency is 4.4khz and the highest is 18.4khz and you can step up/down in 0.2khz increments... so 71 selectable frequencies.

Most of my permissions are pasture, so I run with a tweaked coins program where I've dropped the pre-set frequency down to 10khz... seems to find plenty.

I also run in Dual mode - but that's probably a discussion for a different time!

You can check out some of my Youtube vids using the 71 - i'm tcdetects

Sid Perry has also just done a really good Rutus Alter 71 vid showing the main settings and menu system, plus some depth and speed tests... he posted it 3 or 4 days ago.

Overall I think it's a great machine, great value with the two coil package available... the Rutus is my primary machine!

Click on the Rutus Detectors Ad on the left hand side at the bottom of this page, lots of
information, plus the Manual to download. ::g

Hello Andre,

if you want to have a deeper understanding of how a detector works I can recommend you the book "Advanced Detecting" by John Lynn. ::g I.a. he vividly explains the advantages and disadvantages of the different frequencies.

Best regards
Jacza
