Laser Trident II under performing?

Post by Arctic Jack »

I got my kid’s a Laser Trident II and a Tesoro Compadre for Christmas. We’ve been out and had great fun with them. Today I made a test bed to compare the two (I’m inexperienced with detectors also). I buried 5p’s at 2,4,6 and 8 inches and 10p’s at the same depths.

The Compadre hit the 5p’s at 2 and 4 inches
The Trident II hit the 5p’s at 2 and 4 inches

The Compadre hit the 10p’s at 2,4 and 6 inches
The Trident II hit the 10ps at 2,4, and 6 inches

There was zero difference in what both machines could detect using those coins at those depths.
Both machines were discriminating on Iron. On the first run through the Trident II was using manual ground balance so I made a second run through with the Trident II manually ground balanced, which made zero difference to the test I was doing.

I thought the Trident II would have at least stuck its neck ahead on something, seems I was wrong.

New money has steel cores so will or possibly are discriminated out on those machines
Find yourself some pre decimal coins and do another test
Both your machines are capable machines ::g
When you are right no one remembers; when you are wrong no one forgets
