Good targets slipping down into the iron range

Post by AnalogueSkywalker » Tue Aug 21, 2018 5:14 pm

I regularly hear or read about the fact that under some conditions, mid range relics like hammered coins etc can fool your detector and fall down into the iron range. So, if like me, you often run your detectors disc at or near the iron setting, you/we are probably missing out on the odd good target.

Can anyone advise me on a good setting, ie whereabouts in the iron range should i set my disc to avoid the above happening? I have heard that some people set their disc so that it will cancel out an iron nail, but what size of iron nail exactly? If anyone can advise me on this i would really appreciate it. Cheers...

I am afraid that experimentation may be the only way to sort this one out. ::g
