Coil cover

Post by oldun »

Hello All,
I have just bought the 400i and find that the coil cover does not fit without falling off. Do any of you find the same problem? If so what do you about it, or, if so do you just go without it. Using it with a sling and digging tends to scrape the coil along the sand which can't do the it any good. Thanks

Either use plastic ties to secure it, or masking or parcel tape. Some people like to use sealant round the coil covers to minimise sand getting in, which could work to secure it too I guess.

If all else fails you could buy a replacement. I wouldn’t recommend detecting without a cover on sand because it’s so abrasive and, I guess, the salt could be harmful too?

Thank you Oxgirl36 I think I will use tape, that way I can keep the coil cleaner, tape is easy to remove and reapply.

Mine fits tightly like a glove. You could always contact the retailer. They may send you a replacement coil cover. Worth a try?

Might be a silly question but are you pushing it until it "clicks" on?

The 400i coil cover is a very tight fit, you need to push it on really hard all round until it clicks into place, if It's loose or doesn't fit you have the wrong coil cover.
