Quest Q20 and Q40 Metal Detectors

Post by mrix » Fri Aug 11, 2017 9:18 am

Hello all, around a month a go I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take a look at two New machines about to be released from the brand Quest, the models are known as the Q20 and Q40, I created a video below but had not uploaded it until yesterday as I contracted the Measles and have only really just got back on par :-&

For anyone interested in taking a look the direct link is below, its simply looking at the parts that make up the machines and having a look at the settings, modes and menu etc, As for performance I have honestly no idea at the moment.

I've managed to get a user manual for the Q40 out of Quest support, seems to be be Quick Start but has some extra data in it... I'll post later if I can figure out how...

Thanks for posting the vids mrix

And here's a PDF of the Q40 manual that Quest emailed me.

Can't wait to see some reviews/vids of it in use.

So far so good. The Q40 packs an awful lot into £400.00 and the design and build quality looks excellent. Now the big question, yet to be answered, does it perform. At the end of the day it will come down to the coil and the processors. If it cant find the goodies then it won't matter how smart it looks or what you get. Because we want to find stuff !!

But if the unit has been programmed well and it can react well, unmask well, and has respectable depth then it has the chance of being a real winner. I hope it does have good performance, because at that price I will be joining the queue for one of these if it can do the business.

I would also like to know if Quest are committed to rolling out other coil options to give these machines greater flexibility in the field.

So IP66 is just weather proof, correct ?
I was really hoping this might be submersible to a couple meters at least ;;z
Now waiting to see the specs on the Quest Pro...

Here is a breakdown of IP (Ingress Protection) ratings http://www.dsmt.com/resources/ip-rating-chart/

In this case the inital 6 means its dust tight, and the second 6 that its protected against Powerful water jets. For submersible to 1m you would need IP67 and for any deeper IP68.

Keep in mind that the "Quest Diver" will be along soon, the fully submersible version of the new models. IP66 gives great protection, but the dedicated underwater machine will add nicely to the line up.

By the looks of it this is designed to not need any covers, hence the IP66 rating... not sure if that makes the coil submersible for a few inches...

Leuisure Promotions said its 2 weeks away from being in stock.

Hi ss47, yes it was a nasty experience, high temp for around 6 days with a rash from head to toe :-&
Its very rare to catch these days as almost everyone is immune to it having the various jabs as a child, The Consultant explained he had not seen one single case of Measles in over 15 years at my local Hospital :-O
