Very sad news to hear whenever an ardent member of the forum passes on...what a great guy for giving us all such a great input into his love of our pastime of metal detecting...many thanks for that Neil ::g
I do so hope at this time of great sadness his family can take some some small comfort that his input and enthusiasm to his Love and dedication to the hobby that he always gave on this forum will never be forgotten.
R.I.P.....and thank you.

Sorry to hear this. Niel was one who welcomed me a few years ago and one of a few I have had contact with. Very sad.

As I am new to this forum I made a search here for his posts, and I found that I had read some of them.

I saw even that in the middle f the year he was asking about hip replacement (that he was about to have) and if that would impair his ability to continue detecting.

And I also saw that he was last active on the 25th of December on the forum.

Goes to show that until his last moments he was still thinking of metal detecting.

Didn't know him, but my thoughts go to his family and his friends, specially in this forum.

Christian.

Not known well, but always a sadness when a fellow colleague; if only in spirit, passes away. Glad he was lifted by his enthusiasm at the end.
Guess he'll be watching over us for a while yet, so make sure you say g'day next time you're out there digging.
Thinking of his family at this sad time.

What awful news and somehow even more stark at this time of year.I never met the Mole but enjoyed his posts very much.
I have been whinging about having a cold over Christmas and this has made me feel ashamed of myself. People get dealt cruel hands unexpectedly and soldier bravely on. It puts all the fussing and bickering into perspective. I hope his loved ones find peace.

That is such a shame. He was a great contributor to this forum. Have the family specified any organisation/hospice that funeral donations can be sent to? I feel I would like to donate a small amount. Thanks, Copperballs1

If you'd like to tell us how to contribute then I'm sure we'll help all we can and try to at least help with part of that burden.

So very sorry for your loss.

Think it may be appreciated.

Sadly I never never got to meet Neil but did exchange a few PMs with him and of course read his posts on this forum. A thoroughly decent guy and a sad loss to us all in the hobby. Condolences to his family and friends.

Really sad to hear about Neil.

I was lucky enough to meet him last year on a group dig in Derbyshire. We both enjoyed a good moan about how rubbish the dig was, which had obviously been detected to death.

I've only just seen this post and I'm very saddened to hear this sad news.

I've had the pleasure of contact with Neil several times, both on the forum and through pm's.

Another sad loss to the forum.

Sad news to end the year on. Happy to contribute a little, I hope we collectively make a difference to his family, they clearly need a little help at this sad time.
