Hello tony47, as its only got two buttons its very simple to use and has reasonably good performance.
A fair few members here have purchased this model over the years
I have always been impressed by this video by the late Norfolk Wolf ::g

Great machines, not the bells and whistles of the ACE 250 & no multi tones, but once you get used to it you wont miss much. Found plenty with mine including my first silver roman and hammie. :D

Hi Tony47, i have had a CS3MX for 3 years and its very good, found lots of really good things, including 2 gold coins. It does like iron, but you get to know the signal for iron as you use it. Very easy to use, no programs or displays to worry about. Battery life is excellent, and the pinpoint feature is helpful, as is the belt mount for control box if weight is a problem. Depth is variable but i've had buckles etc at 9" and hammys around 6-7". Good luck.

Hi zendog, how deep was your roman silver?

It was less than 3" down on ploughed, the only roman item I have ever found on that farm.

I use the CS3 as my back-up machine, its a great piece of kit and comes highly recommended, the signals are sharp and positive and the pinpoint is accurate. The trick is not to be tempted to set the discrimination too high or you will miss the decent finds such as gold.
Its true that you will probably be digging a bit of scrap but it will certainly find the good stuff too, and at a decent depth.
C scopes aftersales is second to none by the way.
Happy hunting Dave
