Coin album blues..

Post by Ollie K » Thu Apr 16, 2015 10:41 pm

Hi everyone, bought a Schultz coin album and put a few of my latest coins in just to see how they looked. Looking good I thought.. Picked it up and turned round to leave the kitchen and half of them flew out all over the floor! Bloody hell where did they go?!! Also some of the holders are split too :-L Do any of you guys use coin albums? I'd be interested to know your experiences with them or any other suggestions on displaying coins in an easy to reach, secure manner. Thanks, Ollie ::g

Here's the link for those that want it. Not bad for 50 notes. The bottom tray slides out the folds up to cover the drawers.

I use those plastic coin envelopes you can get from an auction site, the ones that you can seal at the top as opposed to the ones that just fold in half, the coins cannot fall out and the envelopes are kept in an old coindex coin box and a red tin box that I got from Screwfix for a tenner.

I keep my coins in Lindner trays - they aren't the cheapest at about £18 per tray but I love how they stack easily and are fully protecting the coins - I don't trust the plastic wallet type things - I'd throw them everywhere as well!!

just ordered a Lindner 48 coin tray now my hammy coin collection is over 50 decent coins - I keep all the larger items like milled silvers, seals and scabbier hammies etc in the 24 coin trays they do as the sections are obviously larger

Thanks Jaimie- I like the look of those trays. I read an article in an old mag though about the importance of keeping finds (especially copper alloy) in a dry box with silica gel to prevent them deteriorating. What do you make of that? Do you put silica gel sachets in the trays? Cheers, Ollie [:)
