Ctx3030 compared to Etrac

Post by Martin64 »

I use a Deus but in the past I’ve had CTX,Equinox and Etrac. I’m after a second machine for old pasture or that I can use if a friend comes with me and uses my Deus. I couldn’t gel with the Equinox at all for some reason although I know it’s an excellent machine. I was going to opt for a second hand CTX but I’m really drawn to the Etrac, I can pick one up used for really good money these days and I think the fact it’s normally only going to be used when required on old pasture I think it represents the best value for performance v price.
Can any other people that have run both CTX and Etrac in the past confirm this or tell me I’ve got it all wrong. TIA

You might have problems with a CTX as it is somewhat similar to the Nox, just more difficult to set up and use, as well as a lot heavier. The Etrac also has lots of similarities to it too. ::g

Depends how you like to run it. If you're happy to run with open screen 50 Conductive Tones, you may as well go with the Etrac. Otherwise, the increased tone break options on the CTX make it by far the better option.

I had a Etrac for 18 month and ran a CTX for 3 years. I am tempted to go for a CTX but I have a set of Garrett wireless link headphones so it would make the Etrac wireless. I used to run 50 conductive with minimal discrim..

From my understanding the CTX would be a far better option simply because it has a faster recovery speed / processor, the Etrac when I owned one was a little slow on recovery speed unless new models have now been updated ?
