The Fors CoRe

Post by mrix »

Hello all, as it started out to be a nice day today I thought I would take the sample Fors Core detector Nokta sent me out to the field I use for my test bed to see how it would perform ::g I can fully understand buried targets is not everyone's cup of tea but if my mind it can give you a rough idea how the machine can perform.
Its got some unique features I have never seen on a metal detector before which I will be checking out in a later video but the next test is to see how well the Fors works on wet sand, it has a new mode specifically dedicated for wet sand, will be interesting to see how well it copes.
Cheers all

Enjoyed the review Mrix. The machine has a good audio colour about it re giving a different strength of signal for the various coins.

Yes it has a few different features including the handle which can vibrate for the hard of hearing, also a led light built into the handle, these are two things I have never seen on a metal detector before.
Not sure about led light though as its very small and might not be intense enough to illuminate the area of the search coil ? will check it out later tonight ::g
Thanks

This is the second time I have had comments on my unique style of metal detecting footwear =))
In my defence I did have the boots in the car but its was baking hot so decided against wearing them.
Thanks

Looks a very capable machine,is it lighter than the velox 1-looks it.Plus what settings were you actually using in the video?

Hello sweepspeed5, I like to initially try metal detectors pretty much on their default settings to keep everything as simple as possible, the setting used within the video was purely Discrimination mode 2, the machine was first ground balanced which was done by pressing the ground balance button and pumping the coil between 1 and 8 inches from the ground.
I have not actually checked the weights between the two machines but its likely to be lighter as it only takes 4AA batteries which are now slotted into the built in battery compartment ::g

Its certainly going to take a little longer to get to know the machine, it does have far more settings than the Velox One, it does all appear pretty straight forward though and nothing over complex.

That's a brave statement to make Mrix,we won't hold you to it.Things have a habit of becoming complicated all on their own!
be lucky.

What I mean by not over complex is the menu system, its a very straight forward system and fairly simple to navigate and understand ::g

Re: The Fors CoRe - Beach wet sand

Post by mrix »

Looking forward to the beach test
I did attempt a video today but with the Noise of screaming kids along with the wind and crashing waves it was impossible.
I did manage to try the wet beach setting and I can confirm it worked really well ::g B-)
It was literally a case of setting the machine to COG Mode " Conductive Ground " and then ground balancing, the machine then become very stable, I will try and get a beach video done sometimes during the week ::g
Great video Mrix.Plus a bit of detecting flamenco stamping those clods down.

Hi sweepspeed5, at this moment in time I have not had the opportunity to use it, I have been planning a video to show how the New conductive ground setting works at my local beach but its been difficult what with busy beaches or just being too windy, hopefully shortly I can take it out on a dig also.

Hi Mark, I have been unlucky that the beaches down south where I do my testing have been highly populated or the weather has been too bad. As you have posted your reply it has jogged me in getting a beach test video done ::g
The Fors Core does have a dedicated setting for beach called Conductive Ground (COG) so its very easy to set up, in fact the whole machine is pretty straightforward to use.
I`ll see if I can make another attempt later in the week ::g

Maybe I'm wrong but aren't they just a t2 inside ? Just what I'd heard on the grapevine plus if your left handed the screen on the box is on wrong side I know there is a number display tho

Not sure if there is anything actually factual to that statement :-/ and even if there anything to it the T2 is a really good machine ::g
plus if your left handed the screen on the box is on wrong side I know there is a number display tho
Yes that`s a fair point made but as you say there is also the number display on the handle.
In all honesty even if you use it in the right hand its not likely you will be looking at the box lcd when identifying targets, its mainly there for settings and having such a big screen is a nice touch ::g

Cheers
