(for people without windows 8 on their PC)
then you can open google earth, and import the data in a .txt or .csv and your entire detecting day will be loaded into google earth, showing your route, finds location, and description of the find.you can then save all that data in google earth, in the My Places section, and keep a database of all your detecting for many years to come.

Is there a tutorial of how to import the data in txt or .csv to show my entire detecting day? as I have no idea how to do this.

it would be nice if it shows your footprints of where you have been walking so you know whats been done and whats left to do in a given field ,within reason of course .

It will do that if you don't set it up right when you use it. IME you have to switch OFF ALL wireless or other positioning and ALL GPS positioning ON. Otherwise the network positioning will override the GPS and it will only log your finds according to network masts.

Basically, using a Galaxy S3 for example:

In the pull-down menu on the face of the phone: Turn wireless OFF AND GPS ON.
In settings: go to "Location Services" and untick "Use wireless networks" and tick "Use GPS satellites".

Obviously unwind the settings when you've done detecting.

Correct. Excellent reply. Most people just need to understand their phones a little more as they all differ in the settings. Thank you.

there has been a bit of a development regarding the app

ive been contracted to build it for a detecting company who i can not mention at this stage.
the app will be released for all phones, iphone, android and windows phone at the same time.
along with a new detector due to come on the market sometime this year .

Will it still be available free of charge, as stated previously, for forum members?
