Logging finds

Post by dajome » Fri Apr 13, 2018 12:40 am

Advice required on logging finds please - how do you find/ show the position of a find - do people use gps tech or a manual system? If tech, can you recommend any devices?

Depends how techy you wish to get. :))
Minelab CTX has built in GPS.
Phone Apps.
Garmin or similar hand held GPS unit.
Use the web: http://gridreferencefinder.com/

I just use my Garmin (despite having a CTX) and numbered finds bags.
Make find, log as waypoint.
When in the comfort of my own home save & back up the Garmin.
The kml. file info can be loaded into Google Earth.
Find goes in clean bag with a Finds record note (NGR/Land conditions/date/description or ID) and then a bundle goes to our FLO every month or so.... although i should be self recording, sadly I`m "time poor" ! =))
Opinions expressed on MY posts are mine and NOT those of any democratic organisation I volunteer for. ::g
