CTX 3030 Modes / Programs

Post by Cleggy » Sun Sep 17, 2017 1:03 am

I'm new to the CTX 3030.

Is there a top Ten list of the best modes/programs?

I went out today for 6 Hours, I was using Tadpole 4 and Ghost 4 which were recommended and found nothing. :(

So I wonder is there a top 10 list of the best modes/programs?

I'm new to the CTX too.

I read the manual and Andy Sabisch's CTX 3030 Handbook (which is much more helpful than the manual!) over and over for the couple of months before I bought the CTX, so I had a bit of a headstart before it arrived. Once you've done that, the CTX seems a lot less complicated and you can go ahead and create your own programs, designed to suit your own land and detecting style ::g

The Tadpole 4 and Ghost 4 is all you need now. You didn't find coins not because the programs are wrong but because there were no coins there. I had the CTX3030 for 3 months now and all the coins I found I could find with any of the ready installed programs. The different programs matter only for advanced users. The most important thing now is to do a lot of tests in the garden with nails and other iron so you can learn to recognise how the false signals they produce sound like. Especially with 50 conductive tones and ferrous-coin separation. The most important lesson I received on my first detecting rally was that with the CTX3030 you find the coins not with "the correct program" but with A LOT OF LEGWORK!

Good luck!

"I found nothing so the programme was wrong?? "Or....brace yourself.......there was nothing to find?

Drop the advanced programmes & learn from the bottom up .... don`t jump in the deep end if you can`t swim. ::g

Are you new to detecting or is the CTX a new machine

It's all been said before on these forums so a search through the threads should help you.

Swing slow and low and get to know your machine. The CTX should help you find stuff from the start but you will find much more once you know what you are doing. ::g

When you say you found nothing. What literally nothing????? We've had a couple of quite fields where we got 1 pre dec penny in 2 days of detecting. But got the usual shorty cap. Odd button etc. I once went 3 months without finding a coin and blamed it on the detector. Bought another couldn't get on with it and got read of that 3 month later. It has to b there in the first place and b in detectable depth and you have to walk over it. It's all luck.
