Minelab CTX3030 - Programs & Settings

Post by Dave8472 » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:03 pm

Hi all, just creating a topic for program's and settings, as I hope over time there will be a lot of different ones being used, as a reference for people to look at it will be nice to keep them all in this topic for future reference. Appreciate it is early days yet but please feel free to add any settings and program's that you use ?

My Current Combined Program (EDIT THIS IS AN UPDATED PROGRAM 06 May 2016)

Thanks for the detailed post and information, I have been having some pin-pointing issues as well, mainly with very tiny items :)

Hi all, now I have some detecting time under my belt and a better understanding of target responses, I have made a combined tone program rather than the 50 conductive tones. This is mainly to bring those iron tones down to a low level rather than high, it will allow me to better differentiate between when there is a non ferrous and a iron target in the same hole. I will let you know how I get on.

I have included the tone frequency next to the speaker settings, and the line position for the zones, it will probably need tweaking after a test run.

Also the Program show is my “Deep Program”, for “High Trash” I am still using - Recovery Fast ON, Recovery Deep OFF, Target Separation - High Trash

Still using it Bill, going well just might need to up the frequency on the left as an air test at a club dig on a particular hammy read in this zone, I am going to also knock the descriminatoon down to a lower level when I next plug the detector in to the pc

I am still switching from a deep program to a trash program subject to site conditions

I have been out of detecting for several years as my now late wife (Died June 2013) had a terminal illness (Motor Neurone Disease or Lou Gerhig.) and I was her full time carer. I Re-started tecing in mid August to get me out of the house etc.
I have a new CTX and it is still trying to break me, only been out twice just running it through the different Minelab settings to see what's what. Reading thro the CTX owners general chat has already given me several tips on how to tame the little bugger! I am looking forward to future tips, thanks lads, you have given my currently numbed life a lift ::g

Stick with it John, I am only now after a year really getting to grips with it, I now run all metal mode 99% of the time with no discrimination, I have the iron tones set very low so they are not too annoying on the ears lol

I still use a combined program now with these setting shown in white (May 2016)
Dave &*(

I do toggle the Low/High Trash setting depending on site, and sensitivity Auto +2 (+1 17" Coil)

Some great posts here I hope I will soon be up to scratch and offering constructive advice of my own. Until then I hope you all don't mind me asking questions and trying out all the things suggested in the hope of coming up with some of my own. In the meantime if anyone can suggest any dedicated Minelab chat/forums I could browse and any good vids to look at I would be very grateful.

Keep on swinging Paul

Hello Paul

I have only had my CTX3030 for a month or so but coming from the E-trac have found it so far quite an easy move.

I have got some very good info and programmes from the Minelab Owners Forum run by Gordon Heritage.

I got Gordon to fill my CTX up with all his best programmes at a recent Minelabowners rally. He detects almost full time these days on the land and in rivers so has more experience than anybody with the CTX and the GPX. A very clever guy where detecting is concerned and has had some amazing treasure finds over the years.

Don't know if this helps but a lot of people use the tadpole and ghost profiles, I would imagine this would be a good start point and you could edit it to suit your needs.
