When is the new ctx being released ?

Post by Dav » Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:17 pm

Does Anybody have any ideas as to when the new ctx will be released from minelab ? I own ctx myself and was considering investing in a nox 800 for the weight aspect but was just curious to know if the newer model ctx will be a lightweigh animal , any ideas as to how else should and would the newer version differ . Thinking about holding out until it’s unveiled.
Thanks

Personally I've heard nothing of such a release from Minelab or read of it as a subject in the CTX 3030 sub-forum. Perhaps your best bet is to email Minelab's Press Officer via their web site.
If you go via that route, please post your findings here ::g Thank You. ss47

No, if it's any good and ticks the right boxes we will simply buy one. ::g It's only a metal detector! :D

Mind you we could always just waste good detecting time ruminating about there not having been a decent detector since the Arado 120B! :D

I think that it was suggested on one of the Nox threads that the only reason why the Nox was so cheap was because a new CTX was planned. I rather think that it was only idle speculation though! :D

Minelab have never been very forthcoming about their plans and, as the very protracted and almost painful release of the Equinox showed, not particularly good at it either. They already have a number of other higher priced machines available for specialists and while the CTX has it's fans (me amongst them) it also has some obvious drawbacks. Some of the technology that you are paying for is mostly unnecessary and it is also a bit dated now.

If you want my wish list then I would suggest a new Nox with a carbon fibre stem as standard and a much more accurate numerical target ID. ::g

Someone on here quoted a Minelab press release, the gist of which was that the Equinox is not a replacement for the CTX, FBS remains superior in certain circumstances, etc. etc.

It did also state that a successor to the CTX is in the pipeline,

For the life of me I can't remember which thread it was in, though! :-L

It seems that a 'new specification' is just 'new speculation'. 8-| :D ss47
