Minelab X-terra 50 at the beach

Post by NewDetectors » Wed Oct 26, 2016 8:47 pm

Hi all, I took my X50 to the sandy beach today and it was impossible to use even at the lowest sensitivity setting.

Ground balance was useless as it was the same tone whilst bobbing up and down so I turned it all the way down to 0 and cracked on anyway.

The X50 has the GB range of 0-20 and I assumed 0 would be the best for wet salty sand.. was this the right choice or would going to full positive/20 be better than negative/0?

As you have discovered they don't really work well on wet sand or if holes fill up with salt water. Good on the dry and can be used on the upper tidal wet pebble slopes. ::g
