Tiny silver and amethyst thistle oot the mud

Post by Lowland » Thu Nov 07, 2019 3:30 pm

Sneaked an hour in this morning and found this lovely little silver thistle,
Don’t think it’s too old but looks like the top is amethyst.
Not much else bar a couple of copper turners which are everywhere...
Cheers ::g

Hi,

I just Googled for "victorian silver amethyst thistle" and found a couple of pictures of items which look very similar.

I don't want to link to them because the sites look like auction tracking sites rather than being useful, informative sites, but if you do the same, it might give you something to go on to find out what you have.

Great little find. Thistles turn up on all sorts of jewellery, particularly brooches, so I will be interested to see what the detail looks like. ::g

Very pale colour-the rim to the stone has been ground,rather than chipped.
Think it’s a fob charm,the silver work is very nice ::g
