Thanks everyone, nursing a very self inflicted sair heid,
I set off for the recently productive hollow
but over the weekend it’s grown a lot-well beyond me!
So back off to old faithful field and see if I could eke out a signal or ten :D
The equinox was picking up tiny lead blobs at satisfying depths.
The cut half was shallow though was just a pip of a signal-
Could have been lying end on I guess.
I think the button is one of those butlers buttons with the little spring loaded gubbins
At the back.
All in all great to be out-hope y’all had a great weekend.

Bingo-a batchelor button it is fred....
My eyes took a second to adjust to it on first appearances
Looked like a big silver coin :))
So happy to find the token-it’s survived pretty well all the time it’s been buried.
Right on the route of a long gone tree lined meandering path.
Looks like a romantic stroll past the old folly on a Sunday sort of a walk. ::g

Hi ss47,
They have a certain vibe to them,
one reason I find them interesting is reading up on the Kirk round here
And their shenanigans-In Walter Elliot’s excellent Selkirkshire book/s
(It’s got two sides to the token-do you want to see the other side?)
Specially for you ::g

That's a brilliant Church Token and its great to find something local. Have you managed to identify the church? I have found a few round my side but could not identify. There is a book on 16,17 & 18th C tokens (Alexander J.S. Brook) you can download but the one I have found is not in there, typical eh? The others are good finds also. Well done.

Hello,

I’ve hit a bit of a brick wall with online information,
I’m still trying to figure out which church is AC!
Does it stand for associated church...
I’m hoping Walter Elliot’s Selkirkshire book has the answer on the minister.
Trying to get the time to read it is a different stiry :-w
Cheers
Rory
