Today, along with Bob79, I attended a small charity dig not far from Newbury, I took my Nox 800 looking resplendent on its new red carbon shaft, and running Fred's Field 1, program, 50 tones, wide open, and full sensitivity. And I am pleased to tell you, if you want to find fired ordnance, of all descriptions, then this is the way to go ::g x; .303, .22, .17HMR, 12G, 20G, I collected it all rl; :D But along the way we also dug a few other items as you can see below.

Bob was having a button day, with some nice engraved buttons, and a couple of George 3, copper coins. I on the other hand had some odd finds, the glass bottle with silver cap, the very thin copper engraved item, and the military? button ::g

There were some other nice finds made, 2 x gold rings, a very nice roman coin, and a George 2 silver ::g

Well done on your ordnance collection. :D Until I got the Nox I hadn't realised quite how many .177 and .22 airgun pellets are spread over fair Albion. They are some of the very few obvious signals that I am inclined to ignore. Your thin copper item looks like part of a late Victorian or early 20thC belt buckle or slider. Love the scent bottle and your military button is a general service one, normally about WWI to WW2 but could be a bit either way. ::g

Nice little collection. And "Button days" don`tcha just love erm ? Had plenty of those in the past, in fact I`d probably say out of All the things in my Finds Tins , Buttons must outnumber everything.

Thanks for posting the button pics Kevin, good to see you again.
Enjoyable days detecting today, even with the odd shotty end, cartridge case and bullet tips, plus some pennies raised for charity.

Hello Kev ::g I reckon your glass bottle is liable to be a Victorian smelling salts vial.
Google same for a selection. Post Victorian examples more commonly available in green/blue glass bottles of the 'banjo' design. ::g Regards ss47

I wonder if it’s a smelling salts bottle :-/ it’s sweet whatever it was used for. That folded item is interesting too. It seems to have religious symbolism on it. The Christian ‘P’, a cross, a stylised lamb - or am I imagining things?

Nice buttons gents - love a decorated button. Mine are almost always plain :)

Edit: darn it SS47 and his super fast fingers beat me to it =))
