Well, you can lead a horse to water, but an amulet may well be lead!

That's just what I was thinking, wonder if it worked? I hope so.

Thanks for all the reply's guys and girls, I read through them all and some were quite funny, especially from last night,with Tony thinking I has succumbed to the black death ( or the pox) and Clints arm going to sleep ( you will go blind mate, not to mention the warts).

So, it is I guess quite probable an amulet against the black death Pete but more than likely not by a witch Bruce but by a God fearing man, somebody quite educated as your general population wernt great writers at that time especially I suspect not in Latin, I can just imagine it being written in desperation as everyone he knew were dropping like flies.

The place it came from was a small trading site, lots of Edwardian farthings and ha'pennies and coin weights and bag seals going up to post medieval times so somebody would of lost it whilst having all the fun of the fair.
Zyrbalax, I was told I should put a " do not bin" notice with it, just in case I shuffle of this mortal coil without prior notice, it would be a loss to the nation if a bit of previously rolled lead was chucked away apparently, but nobody mentioned anything about the loss to the nation if I pegged it 8-|

As always guys, thanks for the interest,

AOO ::g

I too unroll all lead items in sheet form, I found this pewter "shako plate" here in Canada nearly tossed it into the lead scrap bucket.
I very carefully unrolled it been buried for over two hundred years, take a look..HH..Johnnn

If it is a plague talisman, we should put these together Nige ::g

That's an awesome find, I missed it when it was first published.
How do you unroll your rolled up lead? When I try it the lead flakes and cracks.
Cheers Spearhead, just moved it over so as not to hijack NinjaNige's post.

Its that very very pliable lead, like the stuff bagseals are made of, very soft. Funny enough I found another roll last week that looks very similar but ive not unrolled it yet, I shouldn't think I would find anything similar again to be honest, thanks for the interest ::g
