Silver Hawking whistle

Post by king of the swingers »

Out today with equinox using field one programme.
Detecting on a ploughed field and this hawking whistle popped up.
There's a rip on the top of the whistle but you can see alot of flowers and detail on it.
The whistle was about 5" down.
Any opinions on age welcome
Cheers for looking

By the way they are described as hunting, hawking or huntsmen's whistles :D

Heres a complete one showing no signs of any damage by the look of it.

Lovely...very envious indeed. =P~ I was going to say it had a Tudor vibe so at least i feel good about being there or thereabouts. :))
Splendid....I wonder what the motifs are? Hard to see them until more crud is removed from the crevices. It looks like initials around the end but maybe i am mistaken. The symbols on the diagonal ...I also wonder if they are referencing a coat of arms?
