Gilt livery button ~ (thanks, Koala)

Gilt button resized.jpg
This looks like it might be some sort of militia button perhaps? Seems to be a 4 legged animal top left, perhaps a standing eagle top right and possibly R V below? No backmark.

just make a neck to the right of the animal thats erased maybe Griffin or dragon(heraldry)

hazard a guess the left is a bull

Two side by side are normal a marriage of two families

so its a livery button

Thanks for that - now you mention it the cushions under the emblems are clearly visible so I'd go with it being a livery button. Just a shame that it's knackered! ;;z

if you change the title to include "livery button" hopefully the right people will see it

Where found often helps

thought a surname starting with a "V" would be easy but there's three pages

https://www.myfamilysilver.com/pages/fa ... px?alpha=V

funnily enough the first one is a bull

https://www.myfamilysilver.com/pages/cr ... me=Vachell

however am not sure if the male side is the left or right.
