It’s definitely a ‘Buckle Ring’ but as I’ve looked around I’ve been surprised at the ages of some, as old as 15th cent and as modern as yesterday.
Your seems to have a ‘V’ engraved on it. Maybe made for someone special.

Have a look through some on google, plenty to choose from. You might have some marks on the inside, if you open it up.

Nice find, good luck ::g

I'm usually OK with rings but this one could almost be anything from Medieval to modern and will probably need 'hands on' ID. A first impression was Tudor or perhaps Stuart but that doesn't mean much without some other pointers. With a buckle strap on both sides I suspect that the V is part of the design.

Hopefully you'll get it opened out and it will have something helpful on the inside - like a hallmark or inscription. Who knows, it might even be a posey ring. Best of luck. ::g

The anchor image wasn't approved and incorporated into the Birmingham Assay mark until 1773 so your ring obviously post dates that. ::g Regards ss47

It's a rather interesting ring. I still can't make up my mind if it is in the Gothic Revival or Arts and Craft style. However, both of them were Victorian and looked back in history for inspiration so it's hardly surprising that we were a bit unsure of the date. ::g
