That is really nice, better than just another gold ring I assume :) I've ordered my Nox 800 now, mainly for the wet beach and to find the gold. Do you have any advice on setting for the wet? I've been watching some beach hunt videos but no info on settings, I think most are just throwing it into beach 2 and swinging away.

I'll likely be hitting the beach the day it arrives to give it a test, so any set up help appreciated ::g

Put my beginners settings into Beach 1 and away you go. You can fine tune it later. Wet sand is heavily mineralised so it may chirp a little. Just swing slowly and dig everything positive and repeatable until you start to recognise signals. Even some junk, like crown bottle caps has a very distictive pattern which you will learn to recognise. Best of luck.

I will surely give those a go, cheers ::g I'll report back when I have given the machine it's first outing, plenty of crown bottle caps I'm sure! Took me a while to learn their tones on the Deus, and even now I still think 'gotta dig it just in case' :))

Will storm Brendon affect the South eastern beaches?
Or does it have to be blowing a certain way.
I was down at hythe last year delivering to the Cafe on the beach (lovely folks). And I was amazed how bad it can get if the swell is right.
I've only just found out how important the iron bias is on the nox,as it's pre set to 0. I didn't realise how much big iron is on my fields!
I'm looking forward to seeing your next gold.

Not so far it hasn't! :D A lot of shingle blown around but nowhere any good between Hythe and Folkestone. I found two patches of sand and extracted about £4 over a couple of hours. In fact it was so quiet that I opted to go home early and get on with the decorating.

All the beaches can be affected by storms but there are a lot of other factors which combine to dictate how beaches move around, particularly the direction and duration of the wind. That said because the coastline wriggles it is generally possible to find somewhere that looks at least hopeful. ::g

Funnily enough iron Bias is only really important when you are learning the Nox. Once you start to understand it you can set Iron Bias to 1 or even 0 and get the same information from the sounds. This is a good thing to do because every step of Iron Bias knocks off about half an inch off of the depth that it will go.

Great info there Fred. I thought you might lose some depth.
I expect the weather would also play a part.
Most of my beach detecting will be on my Cornwall camping trips as I go 2 or 3 times a year. It's a great way of relaxing in beautiful surroundings.
